Suuqa Kici gives Somali sellers a storefront, a checkout, and an order dashboard. We never handle money. Buyers pay sellers directly from their own mobile wallet. We do not collect card numbers, wallet PINs, or any payment credential, and no payment ever passes through us.
What we collect from sellers
- Email address and a password, used to sign in.
- Phone number, so buyers can reach you about an order.
- Your EVC Plus number. This is shown publicly on your storefront by design — it is how buyers pay you.
- Your store details: name, logo, banner, description, products.
- A notification subscription, if you allow notifications.
Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider. We never see them.
What we collect from buyers
- Name and phone number, given at checkout.
- The delivery area you type in your own words.
- Precise location. A map pin you place or confirm at checkout, stored as coordinates together with a Plus Code and, when it came from your device's GPS, the accuracy of that reading.
- What you ordered and the amount.
- An email address, only if you choose to verify one in order to leave a review after buying.
- A notification subscription, if you allow notifications.
Why we ask for precise location
Most of Mogadishu has no street addressing. Without a pin, a seller has to phone you, then relay directions to a delivery driver by voice, and orders get lost that way. The pin and its Plus Code exist so a seller can pass a readable location to a driver who may not have a smartphone.
The pin is required to place an order, but it does not have to come from GPS — you can drag it yourself, and refusing the location permission never blocks a purchase. We do not track your location in the background, and we never read it except at the moment you place an order.
Who your information is shared with
The seller you buy from. Your name, phone number, area, map pin, and order details go to that one store so they can deliver to you. They are not shared with other sellers.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
We rely on these providers to run the service:
- Vercel — hosting.
- Supabase — database, sign-in, and image storage.
- Resend — sending verification emails.
- MapTiler — map images at checkout. Loading a map sends your IP address to them, as any web request does.
- Your browser's push service (for example Google, on Chrome and Android) — delivering notifications you have allowed.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Notifications
Sellers are notified when a buyer reports a payment. Buyers receive a single notification, when the seller confirms the money arrived. You can turn notifications off in your browser or phone settings at any time, and nothing else is sent to you.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept as the seller's record of their own business. Store and account information is kept while the account exists.
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete your information by emailing suuqakici@gmail.com. Deleting an order may not be possible where a seller needs it as a record of a completed sale, and we will tell you if that applies.
Children
Suuqa Kici is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Significant changes will be shown in the seller dashboard.
